Nunc Tissue Culture inserts
are short polystyrene tubes with a microporous filter closing one end. These
inserts fit inside wells of T.C. plates and support cell growth on the filter
surface. On the porous surface, epithelial cells feed and excrete from their entire
surface, more nearly approximating in vivo conditions. This produces better
metabolism and differentiation. Use 10mm sizes with 24 well dishes, and 25mm sizes
with 6 well dishes. |

is available for use in 96 well plates. The 8 well strip allows miniaturization of
assays, saving costs by reducing reagents. The MicroWell® format facilitates
automated readings using standard plate readers.

| Transwell Polycarbonate Membrane | Transwell permeable growth supports feature a thin, translucent polycarbonate membrane available in a variety of pore sizes ranging from 0.1µm to 12.0µm. Transwells are treated for optimal cell attachment. They are supplied sterile and come pre-loaded in cluster plates or dishes. Cells must be stained for cell visibility. The polycarbonate membrane is compatible with most organic fixatives and stains. | |||||

Transwell-Clear provides excellent cell visibility under phase contrast microscopy and allows assessment of cell viability and monolayer formation. | Transwell-COL Collagen-Coated Membrane | Transwell-COL has a transparent, collagen-treated PTFE membrane that promotes cell attachment and spreading and allows cells to be visualized during culture. The Transwell-COL membrane has an equimolar mixture of types I and III collagen derived from bovine placentae. Unlike traditional coating techniques that result in occluding film layers, Cornings proprietary coating process results in a biologically stable collagen that covers every fibril of the filter matrix, thereby retaining the porosity of the membrane.
